In 2006, GMRE partnered with Karta Technologies to provide design and integration services of avionic Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) as well as software engineering, development, and integration on the F-16 Block 25/30/32 aircraft. This was one of the first large contracts GMRE was awarded, and the team did a stellar job of providing the modifications and support requested. Because our team had prior experience on the F-16, we were able to apply those skills and knowledge directly, going above and beyond with logistics support, configuration management, Technical Data Management, and more.
A few months into the contract, there was an urgent operational need to support Iraqi Freedom, and the team was tasked with supporting the F-16 Program Office with the integration of the AN/ARC-210 radio on the F-16. Immediately getting to work, the team quickly built a work breakdown structure, a systems engineering plan, a risk management plan, and a detailed integrated master schedule, and within two weeks, we had everything coordinated and approved to move forward with the upgrades and modifications. Following that, it was only two months before we had a hardware design and implementation ready for testing.
In addition to hardware, we also met all software requirements within a four-month timeline, including testing, metrics, process and technical innovation deployment, requirements change,, and support processes. Our ability to pivot, act quickly, and perform impressed all teams, and we were later awarded the Hill AFB Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC) Technical Management Team of the Year in 2007.
